The iDiscovery Participant
The iDiscovery professional development experience is designed to be a seminar dialogue among educational professionals. Each iDiscovery workshop consists of a group of educators interacting to promote and support a specific reform-based educational program. This group of educators includes 12-20 participants and one participant/leader the Facilitator.
The role of the Participant encompasses multiple responsibilities.
- Participation in a three-hour face-to-face orientation.
- The Participant will complete registration materials.
- The Participant will complete introductory workshop assignments.
- The Participant will acknowledge an understanding of the course syllabus including important withdrawal dates and procedures.
- The Participant will acknowledge the course grading rubric and learn the importance of timely, thoughtful responses to seminar topics and discussions.
- The Participant will review assignments to be completed during the semester.
- Within the workshop, and in response to the assignments, the Participant must function as a member of a professional learning community.
- As a member of this community, the Participant thoughtfully responds to the assignments and to other participants in order to contribute to an interactive professional dialogue.
- As a member of this community, the Participant responds in a timely manner multiple times throughout the window of each assignment in order to contribute to a thorough, thoughtful, focused professional dialogue.
- As a member of this community, the Participant reflects on his or her own practices and uses participation in the professional dialogue to enhance/improve those practices.
- Compensation for the Participant is in multiple forms.
- The Participant earns two fee-waived graduate semester credits in Teacher Education (mathematics or science education) from Miami University.
- The Participant gains inclusion in a professional network of teachers sharing a common goal.
- Most important is the experience gained through participation in a professional dialogue among educators.
